I am an associate professor in economics at the University of Canterbury, where I have been based for 23 years. I conduct research in applied policy areas in economics, such as evaluating the effects of housing price on fertility, the effectiveness of public education funding targetted to different dimensions of socio-economic disadvantage, and more recently, the effect of new warnings issued by drug regulators on the sales volumes and share prices of pharmaceutical companies in the UK and US.
While based at the University of Canterbury, I have spent year sabbatical conducting research at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (2018), and the University of Calgary in Canada (2005, 2012).
