Jessica Balanzategui

Jessica Balanzategui is a Senior Lecturer in Cinema and Screen Studies at Swinburne University of Technology and a researcher for the Centre for Transformative Media Technologies. Jessica has published extensively on popular genres across film, television and digital media for and about children. In tandem, her research examines the impact of technological and industrial change on screen genres. She is the author of The Uncanny Child in Transnational Cinema (Amsterdam University Press, 2018), and the recipient of an Australian Film Institute Fellowship for her research on Australian children’s television. Jessica regularly reviews and discusses film, TV, and streaming media in international and national media.
