PhD Student of Public Administration, North Carolina State University

Jessica Haynie Berrett began the PhD program in Fall 2016. Her research focuses on nonprofit management including financial management and nonprofit effectiveness. She is currently working on research related to overhead ratios, efficiency, and revenue diversification. Additional research includes community nonprofit carrying capacity, sector density, and network analysis. Berrett is an instructor for the Department of Political Science at NCSU and is currently teaching Introduction to Nonprofits. Her strong commitment to the social sector is reflected in thirteen years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, management, and consulting. She is also the CEO of Three Stones Consulting, a strategy firm for the social sector that she founded eight years ago. She is a contributing writer for the Philanthropy Journal, a program of the Institute for Nonprofits at NC State. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Integrative Physiology from the University of Colorado and an MBA with a focus on nonprofit management and social entrepreneurship from the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University.
