Dr Jessica Lake is a Research Fellow in the Gender and Women's History Research Centre at the Institute for Humanities and Social Sciences at the Australian Catholic University. She is an interdisciplinary scholar, researching social, cultural and legal history during the modern period, and is currently writing a transnational history of sexual slander (forthcoming with Stanford University Press). In 2018, her first book, "The Face that Launched a Thousand Lawsuits: The American Women Who Forged a Right to Privacy" (Yale University Press, 2016) was shortlisted for for the W.K Hancock Prize by the Australian Historical Association. In 2016-2017, Jessica held the Karl Loewenstein Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Political Science and Jurisprudence at Amherst College (USA). Prior to academia, she worked as a lawyer in the areas of media and commercial litigation.
