Jessica is a University Academic Fellow in Legacies of War. Her First World War related research interests are in gender and war (primarily masculinity); the history of the medical services, both military and voluntary; popular culture and the war.
More broadly she is interested in masculinity in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries; the history of popular culture, primarily literature; and the history of the wedding.
She is currently working on a project looking at the relationships between families and the State in the provision of care for disabled ex-servicemen in Britain after the First World War.
