Jesus Velasco

Jesús Velasco, Ph.D., is a former visiting scholar at the Wilson Center, the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs at Harvard University, and Harvard’s Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies. For many years, Velasco worked at the Center for Teaching and Research in Economics (CIDE) in Mexico City. He was the chairman of the Division of International Studies at CIDE from 1998 to 2001. Velasco is the author of “Neoconservatives in U.S. Foreign Policy under Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush: Voices behind the Throne” (Woodrow Wilson Center Press with Johns Hopkins University Press, 2010) and co-editor of “Bridging the Border: Transforming Mexico-U.S. Relations” (Rowman and Littlefield, 1997). He has published several journal articles on immigration and U.S.-Mexico relations. Currently, he is writing a book on the relationship between the Mexican government and American transnational intellectuals from 1920 to 2006. Velasco earned a Ph.D. in political science at The University of Texas at Austin.
