Jill Walsh is a postdoctoral fellow at the Center for Mobile Communications. She obtained a PhD in Sociology from Boston University in 2014. Her dissertation is entitled The Highlight Reel and Real Me: How adolescents construct the Facebook fable. In this multi-method study she argues that Facebook has become a public space in which adolescents can engage in self reflection and dialogue. Her research also considers the potential impacts this public self dialogue may have for youth development. She has presented her research at national conferences and has earned several financial awards to support her work, including a dissertation writing fellowship. Her interests include adolescent development, social media, health and gender.
