Jillian Caddell is lecturer in nineteenth-century American literature at the University of Kent. She writes and teaches about the intersections of history and literature, with an emphasis on the long Civil War and texts by Herman Melville, Emily Dickinson, Henry James, Elizabeth Stuart Phelps and more.
