Joanna McIntyre

Joanna McIntyre is a Senior Lecturer in Media Studies and Course Director of the Bachelor of Media and Communication at Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne. Joanna has published widely on the topics of queer and trans representation, celebrity, children's media, digital media, film, television, and Australian culture. Her edited collections include Gender and Australian Celebrity Culture (Routledge, 2021) and The Routledge Companion to Gender and Celebrity (Routledge, forthcoming). She is the author of the book Transgender Celebrity (Routledge, forthcoming). Joanna is a chief investigator of the Australian Children’s Television Cultures research group, which is supported by the Australian Children’s Television Foundation (ACTF). Joanna's articles in The Conversation have over 1.3 million readers.
