João Feres Júnior

Professor of political science, Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UERJ)

Professor of political science and director of the Instituto de Estudos Sociais e Políticos (IESP) of the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ), Feres Jr. is the coordinator of GEMAA (Multidisciplinary Research Group on Affirmative Action), a research group focused on the study of affirmative and on race and gender inequality pertaining cultural and institutional practices. He is also the head of the Laboratory on Media and the Public Sphere (LEMEP), which produces the media watchdog website Manchetômetro (www.manchetometro.com.br). Feres Jr. has published extensively on media and politics, political theory, and affirmative action policies.
