Joe Bennett is Professor of Popular Music at Bath Spa University. He has taught on the University’s Masters Degree in songwriting and Commercial Music degree, and is the founder of the UK Songwriting Festival.

His guitar tuition books, songwriting articles and compositions are published worldwide. Joe received a National Teaching Fellowship in 2004 in recognition of his work as a teacher of popular music. As an expert witness musicologist Joe advises music lawyers, publishers, artists and songwriters on matters of plagiarism and musical similarity. His academic research concerns the creative practice and psychology of collaborative songwriters.
