Dr. Essid directs the university's Writing Center. He's a Richmond native who earned a B.A. from the University of Virginia and an M.A. and Ph.D. from Indiana University. He studies changing patterns of literacy and their influence on student writing, especially how technology alters notions of "good writing." He is a freelance writer and blogger who teaches courses about The Space Race and Science Fiction.
