Deep-Sea Ecologist, Newcastle University, Newcastle University

Deep ocean ecologist here! My research focuses on the deepest ecosystems in the ocean, namely the hadal zone and the hadal trenches. To understand how life thrives at 6000 m and deeper, I spend time with an amazing group of animals - scavenging amphipods. My work with amphipods ranges from sorting and identification, describing new species, to conducting advanced genomic techniques to investigate population connectivity between trenches.
