John Filitz has a background in socio-economic policy research and governance. His work experience includes tertiary academic institutions and the public sector in his native South Africa, as well as for an international governance NGO based in Washington D.C. John shares a keen interest in the political economy of emerging nations, with a particular focus on extractive related development in Sub-Saharan Africa. He holds a Masters in Development Studies and a Bachelors in Political Science and Economic History from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. John is a Honorary Research Fellow of the Wits City Institute, at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa.
