Research Fellow, Stephenson Institute for Renewable Energy, University of Liverpool

Dr Jon Major is a physics research fellow at the University of Liverpool’s Stephenson Institute for Renewable. He received his PhD in Physics from Durham University in 2008, winning the Hindmarsh for his thesis. He remained at Durham as a research associate until relocating to the University of Liverpool in early 2011.

He is an expert in solar cell fabrication and characterization, primarily focusing on novel ways to improve the performance and reduce the cost of CdTe thin film solar cells. In addition he has published papers on a wide range of topics relating to solar energy, from thin film growth mechanisms to transparent conductive oxides.

Research interests:

- thin film photovoltaics
- semiconductors
- transparent conductors
