José Luis Fernández Fernández

José Luis Fernández Fernández (Mieres -Asturias- 1958) holds a Doctorate in Philosophy (PhD) from the Faculty of Philosophy of the Universidad Pontificia Comillas and an MBA from ICADE. He is a Professor at the Faculty of Economic and Business Sciences (ICADE) and Director of the Iberdrola Chair of Economic and Business Ethics. From 2000 to 2003, he was Vice-rector of External Relations and University Extension at the Universidad Pontificia Comillas (http://www.comillas.edu/es). For eleven years, he was Coordinator of Ethics of the Professions at the Universidad Pontificia Comillas ICAI-ICADE and General Coordinator of the Unijes Group of Ethics of the Professions. He is currently the director of the collection the Unijes Group of Ethics of the Professions publish with Desclée de Brower (www.edesclee.com/editorial.php).
Since its constitution in 1993 and until June 2007, he was President of Ética, Economía y Dirección. Asociación Española de Ética de la Economía y de las Organizaciones (EBEN-Spain) (www.eben-spain.org); and since May 2000 he has been a member of the Board of Directors of the European Ethics Network (www.kuleuven.be). He is a Fellow Editor and member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Management for Global Sustainability (http://journals.ateneo.edu/ojs/index.php/jmgs/) based at the John Gokongwei School of Management of the Ateneo de Manila University. This publication is the official journal of the International Association of Jesuit Business Schools (http://www.iajbs.org/). Since August 2009, he is also a Fellow of the Caux Round Table (www.cauxroundtable.org) and of the European SPES Institute: Spirituality in Economics and Society (www.eurospes.org). He was an advisor to the Meliá Hotels International group (https://www.melia.com/es /) for the implementation of the Code of Ethics; and currently chairs the boards of CIMEC, a strategic market research consultancy (http://www.cimec.es/ ) and Inwai Fieldwork (http://www.inwai.es/ ).
He is a member of the Corporate Social Responsibility Commission of AECA (Asociación Española de Contabilidad y Administración de Empresas: www.aeca.es); and is a member of the Advisory Board of ICADE's Corporate Social Consultancy, and of the Foro Inserta Responsable de la Fundación ONCE (www.foroinserta.es), representing the Universidad Pontificia Comillas. He is a member of the Advisory Board of Fundación Participa (www.fundacionparticipa.org) and a trustee of Fundación Dr. Manuel de la Torre (http://fundaciondrmanueldelatorre.org/). He is also a member of the Advisory Council of the Doctor Paz Varela Institute (http://institutodoctorpazvarela.es/); and member of the Impact Bridge Foundation (https://www.impactbridge.com/).
For two years, he was a member of the Board of FORÉTICA (www.foretica.es). He is also a member of the International Editorial Board of Ethical Perspectives magazine (www.ethical-perspectives.be); as well as of the Advisory Council of Responsible Media (www.empresaresponsable.com), of whose international awards he was president of the jury between 2015 and 2017. He has written numerous articles and several books on Corporate Social Responsibility, Corporate Governance, Ethics and Business, Catholic Social Thought; he has lectured in very diverse fora; he has participated in debates and round tables in different media -press, radio, and television- and has attended a good number of national and foreign congresses and symposia on topics of his specialty. He also acts as a reviewer and referee for some of the most renowned journals related to Management, Business Ethics and CSR.
Thirteen doctoral theses have been defended, directed by Professor Fernández, on Business Ethics, Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability.
From the Iberdrola Chair of Economic and Business Ethics that he leads, he has promoted nine editions of the Hispano-Portuguese Workshop of Doctoral Students in Business Ethics, Corporate Governance, CSR and Sustainability.
It has also established, together with Bankinter Consumer Finance, the Research Prize in Business Ethics, of which two editions have already been awarded and the third is underway.
In June 2003, he took the course Managing Ethics in Organizations, at the Center for Business Ethics at Bentley University -Waltham, Massachusetts (www.bentley.edu ), organized in collaboration with the Ethics & Compliance Officer Association of the United States. (www.theecoa.org). He has also completed (2009-2010) the International Executive Coaching Program - at La Salle International Graduate School, Madrid Campus (www.lasallecampus.es). In June 2010, he participated in a Research Symposium organized by the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies (www.drclas.harvard.edu) of Harvard University under the title: Management Research in a Global and Changing Environment.
