Josh is a doctoral candidate and tutor in the School of History and the National Centre for Biography at the Australian National University. His doctorate, provisionally entitled "The Political Memoir Phenomenon: Federal Political Life Writing, 1994 - 2020", explains how and why Australian politicians have published political memoirs and diaries in the past several decades, and identifies the way in which their publication affects politics and policymaking.
Josh completed a Bachelor of Arts (Dean’s Scholar) with majors in English Literature and History at the University of Wollongong.
He completed a Bachelor of Arts (Class I. Honours) at the University of Wollongong, and his thesis was entitled "For What Purpose? The Political Memoirs and Diaries of the Rudd–Gillard Labor Cabinet".
