Judith Bessant is a Professor at RMIT University, Australia and a 'Member of the Order of Australia', (AM) awarded in 2017 for her 'Significant service to education as a social scientist, advocate and academic specialising in youth studies research'. In 2021 she was awarded the RMIT University 'Award for Research Impact Design'.
She has held a number of ARC Discovery and Linkage grants.

Judith has published many books, chapters and journal articles. Recent books: include (2021) Making-Up People: Youth, Truth and Politics, Routledge. Her latest co-edited books are: 'When Students Protest... 3 vols, & 'The Rise of the Far-Right: Technologies of Recruitment & Mobilization.

Prof Bessant has held various leadership positions in universities and community sector (eg university governance bodies like university Senates and Councils). She also regularly acts as an advisor for governments, NGOs and business. Judith also regularly writes submissions and acts as an expert witness for government inquiries.
