Julia Brannen is Professor of Sociology of the Family, Thomas Coram Research Unit, UCL Institute of Education, and a Fellow of the Academy of Social Science. She has an international reputation for research on the family lives of parents, children and young people and work-family issues in Britain and Europe, intergenerational relationships, and food in families. She is well known for her methodological expertise and innovative practice in the development of mixed methods, and for her use of biographical approaches and comparative research. Her latest book, Social Research Matters: A Life in Family Sociology, was published in November 2019 by Bristol University Press.
