Postdoctoral Fellow, Jacobs University Bremen

Julia completed a Magister in International Relations at the University of Warsaw (Poland) in 1999. She received her doctorate in 2007 from the University of Bremen. Her doctorate dealt with the development of the oil and gas sector in Russia and how it shapes regional and federal politics.

She has held posts at the Research Centre for East European Studies, Bremen, and the Department of Comparative Political Studies at the University of Regensburg. She was an external research fellow at NUPI in Norway. As a postdoctoral fellow at the Jacobs University Bremen, her research interests include global energy security, geopolitics, Energy politics and energy relations in the European Union and in Eastern Europe; Democratization and the promotion of democracy in post-Soviet states; and the relationships between business and politics in post-Soviet states.
