Wiener-Anspach Postdoctoral research fellow, Department of Politics and International Studies, University of Cambridge

Julia Rone is a Wiener-Anspach postdoctoral researcher at the Université libre de Bruxelles and the Department of Politics and International Studies (POLIS), Cambridge. She has a PhD from the European University Institute in Florence with a thesis on mobilizations against free trade agreements. Julia has taught at the University of Florence, the University of Sofia and the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf. In 2018, she was a visiting fellow at the Weizenbaum Institute for the Networked Society in Berlin and the Centre for Advanced Internet Studies in Bochum.

Julia's current research explores contestations over sovereignty in the UK, Poland and Belgium. She has written on hacktivism, digital disobedience, and more recently, the rise of far right media in Europe. She has also taken part in the COSMOS project "Mobilizing for Democracy" under the supervision of Donatella Della Porta.

Julia has an MSc degree from the Oxford Internet Institute with a thesis on the hacktivist collective Anonymous and a BA degree from Sofia University with a thesis on Utopias and Practices of the Digital Age.
