Julia T. Martínez

Associate Professor, University of Wollongong

Julia T. Martínez is an Associate Professor of history at the University of Wollongong in New South Wales. She publishes on colonialism, gender, migration, and oceanic history in Asia Pacific contexts. Her books include The Pearl Frontier: Indonesian Labor and Indigenous encounters in Australia’s northern trading network (Martínez & Vickers, University of Hawaii Press, 2015), winner of the 2016 QLD and NT History Book Awards; Colonialism and Male Domestic Service Across the Asia Pacific (with Lowrie, Steel & Haskins, Bloomsbury, 2019) and Locating Chinese Women: Historical mobility between China and Australia (Bagnall & Martínez eds, Hong Kong University Press, 2021).
