Professor and Academic Director (Indigenous Research), La Trobe University

Julie Andrews is descended from the Yorta Yorta, Wurrundjeri and Wiradjuri people. She has an extensive work history in First Peoples' higher education and research policy. Professor Andrews has a long association with the Aboriginal communities of Victoria through her research and teaching. Her research is multi-disciplinary and therefore includes culture, anthropology, identity, history, decolonisation, family and mobility.

Julie also teaches an On Country subject titled Encountering Aboriginal Victoria: Parallel Systems of Knowledge. This subject is taught at La Trobe University's Shepparton campus and focuses on the Yorta Yorta people's history on Maloga and Cummeragunja missions and contemporary Aboriginal community narratives and lives around township of Shepparton and the Barmah region.
