Kareena McAloney-Kocaman

Reader in Applied Health Psychology, Glasgow Caledonian University

Dr Kareena McAloney-Kocaman is a Reader in Applied Health Psychology at Glasgow Caledonian University. She is a Chartered Psychologist, an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society, Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society. She holds a BSc (Hons) Social Psychology from the University of Ulster, a Postgraduate Diploma in Health Care Ethics and Law from the University of Manchester, and a PhD in Social Psychology from the University of Ulster.
Previously she worked as a Research Fellow in the Department of Health Sciences at the University of York, and as a Research Fellow in the Department of Psychology and Assistant Statistician in the Institute of Child Care Research, both at Queen’s University Belfast.
Her research interests span social and health psychology with a particular interest in how identity and group memberships influence health and health behaviours, with a focus on the health and well-being of minority and marginalised groups
