Section Head, Pediatric Emergency Medicine and Associate Professor, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Manitoba

Dr. Karen Gripp is a pediatric emergency physician and associate professor within the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Manitoba, Section Head of Pediatric Emergency Medicine, and Medical Director of the Children's Hospital Emergency Department. Dr. Gripp received her medical degree from The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in 1996 and completed her pediatric residency training at Johns Hopkins before obtaining additional training in pediatric critical care at the Children's Hospital Colorado.

Since coming to Winnipeg, Dr. Gripp has served as Pediatric Postgraduate Medical Education co-director and as chair of the national Canadian Pediatric Program Director group. She remains active with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons as vice-chair of the Specialty Committee in Pediatrics and is a member of the Royal College Specialty Standards Review Committee and Pediatrics Examination Board as well as a past member of the Canadian Pediatric Society Acute Care Committee.

Provincially, Dr. Gripp has served as the chair of the College of Physicians and Surgeons Child Health Standards Committee and is the Manitoba course director and master faculty for Trauma Resuscitation for Kids, a high-fidelity intra-professional simulation training event. She also serves as the Vice President Education for the Canadian Women Physicians chapter of Toastmasters.
