Senior Research Fellow, Glasgow Caledonian University

Karen is a Senior Research Fellow in Public Health, and medical sociologist, in the School of Health & Life Sciences/Institute for Applied Health Research at Glasgow Caledonian University. Karen is an active member of the research group ‘Promoting and Protecting Health and Wellbeing’, led by Prof Paul Flowers, and she leads the sexual health research group. Research interests are in risk behaviours for STIs, social and behavioural dimensions of sexual health, methods for reaching hard-to-reach populations, and impact of technology on sexual behaviour and sexual health.

Karen leads the Sexual Health Research Network (www.sexualhealthnetwork.org.uk) - a network for academics in the UK. @SHRN_UK

Karen is a member of the RSE Young Academy of Scotland. She is also a member of the Global Young Academy (2013-2017).
