Karen Sands-OConnor

I am an internationally-recognized expert on Black British children's literature, having won grants and fellowships in both the US and UK for my research. These include a Children's Literature Association diversity grant, a Leverhulme Visiting Professorship (2015-2016), and a British Academy Global Professorship (2019-2023). I consult for Seven Stories (the National Centre for Children's Books), the Centre for Literacy in Primary Education, and the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals.
