DPhil Candidate in Criminology, University of Oxford

Kathryn is currently undertaking doctoral research at the University of Oxford as part of a European and Social Research Council collaboration, examining the themes of risk, trust and confidence, and how they manifest in policing. This research involves undertaking participant observation with police officers and staff. Prior to undertaking the PhD, she completed the MSc in Criminology & Criminal Justice at the University of Oxford (2018-19). She also holds a first-class undergraduate degree in Psychology and Sociology.

Alongside her doctoral research, Kathryn also worked as a Research Officer for the Home Office’s Crime Analysis Unit. She has also worked as a criminal investigator for Leicestershire Police, as well as a Lead Investigator for the Independent Office of Police Conduct, where she specialised in death in custody and shooting investigations. During this time, she has accumulated a wealth of experience in empirical research in the field of criminal justice and has worked on policy relevant research in relation to policing and other key areas of the Criminal Justice system.
