Assistant Professor of Sociology, Oregon State University

Kelsy Kretschmer is an assistant professor of sociology in the School of Public Policy at Oregon State University. Her research generally focuses on the ways collective identity is shaped in organizations. In her book, Fighting for NOW: Diversity and Discord in the National Organization for Women (University of Minnesota Press), she examines how organizational structures shapes membership factionalism and the choice to break away. She is currently investigating how and why women come to feel connected to each other through gender linked fate, and under what conditions those feelings erode.
