I study ecosystem change over geologic timescales in East Africa. I perform stable isotope analysis of fossil and modern teeth, bone, carbonates and sedimentary organic matter to reconstruct ancient ecology. I also work on stable isotope ecology of modern African flora and fauna (hair, plants, soils and bones) in order to better interpret isotopic information from the past and to understand how modern African ecosystems and animals are changing over time.
