I have a Ph.D. in justice, law, and society (first field) and American politics (second field) from American University in Washington, D.C. I am a former Congressional Fellow of the American Political Science Association. During my 2013 fellowship, I worked as a legislative aid for U.S. Representative Bobby Scott of Virginia; I covered gun violence, juvenile justice, and education policy for the congressman. I am currently an assistant professor of sociology and criminal justice at the University of Massachusetts Boston. I study the politics of criminal justice with a particular focus on public opinion.
