My main research interests are in measuring the composition of the atmosphere, specifically greenhouse gases and substances that deplete the ozone.
Currently, I run the UK Deriving Emissions linked to Climate Change (DECC) network, where we measure a range of gases in the atmosphere around the UK and in Ireland. These data are used, along with statistical models, to estimate UK emissions of greenhouse gases and are used to verify the UK national emissions inventory (compiled using accountancy methods) and are submitted to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
