Kristen Shinohara

Assistant Professor of Computing and Information Sciences, Rochester Institute of Technology

Dr. Shinohara’s expertise is in human-computer interaction and accessible design, inclusive design practices, and accessibility in higher-education. Dr Shinohara’s work has focused on how to employ user-centered design techniques and tools to include social aspects of technology use in creating accessible designs, and on how to make design and research methods accessible for people with disabilities. She developed the Design for Social Accessibility (DSA) perspective and method cards to help designers engage in a design process sensitive to disabled user needs and preferences.
