Research Associate, Centre for Complex Systems, Stellenbosch University, Stellenbosch University

My MSc in Conservation Ecology was through Stellenbosch University, where I studied the temperature-dependent sex determination of the nile crocodile in the Okavango Delta, focusing on how Global Climate Change would impact on this keystone species. For my PhD, which was conducted through the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, I adopted a landscape approach where I was interested in the role that private protected areas play in the conservation of biodiversity. Following that I pursued two postdoctoral degrees at the University of Cape Town and Stellenbosch University, focusing on protected areas, but using a complex systems approach to understand how to build resilience in these social-ecological systems.
