PhD candidate Department of Environmental & Geographical Science, University of Cape Town

Lavinia has a MSc in Ecology and is currently completing her PhD at African Climate and Development Initiative (University of Cape Town). Her PhD research examines the ways in which road infrastructure development can impact natural ecosystems across sub-Saharan Africa. She is also a part-time intern at Anchor Environmental Consultants where she assists with various socio-ecological projects. Lavinia has previously worked in the organizational development space, where she built an understanding of how social and environmental organizations function.

Lavinia is interested in applying her skills and knowledge to address environmental and socio-economic challenges, particularly within Africa. She is particularly interested in employing systems analysis and design thinking techniques to address challenges and build research and organizational development strategies.
