Tier II Canada Research Chair in Food, Health, and Social Justice, Acadia University

Tier II Canada Research Chair in Food, Health, and Social Justice at Acadia University and Professor of Sociology. I use mixed-methods to address knowledge and measurement gaps on family and early childhood food insecurity. I research and publish in the areas of family poverty, food insecurity, and health inequality, and I'm a leading scholar of infant food insecurity in Canada. I am a long-standing author of the annual Nova Scotia Child and Family Poverty Report Cards as a Research Associate with the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives-NS, and Steering Committee member of the national organization Campaign 2000. Prior to my academic life, I was a community-based researcher and spent several years providing pre-natal services and support to families living in low-income circumstances in the Annapolis Valley - Nova Scotia. I am the author of the book, Out of Milk: Infant Food Insecurity in a Rich Nation (UBC Press, 2020)
