I am bookending my career as a general practitioner by working with an Aboriginal Medical Service in a very remote area. In 1976, as a newly graduate, I worked in the very first AMS in Redfern, Sydney.

The poverty and associated ill health here are extreme.

I don’t think health outcomes have changed significantly in the last forty-seven years.

Why is this allowed to continue in Australia?
