Research Fellow in Physical activity and workplace health, University of Sydney

Dr Engelen is research fellow at the Prevention Research Collaboration, the University of Sydney. She is a physiologist by vocation with a background in oral perception and food science. In more recent years she has studied how children and adults can be more physically active and less sedentary through different types of interventions, including playground and workplace interventions. Her research is currently also looking at the indoor environments and their effects on activity and sitting related behaviour, as well as on perceptions of workplace and productivity. In the field of children’s physical activity, she is also very interested in the aspect of healthy risk taking.
