Linda was awarded her PhD from James Cook University in 2010, where she also worked as a sessional lecturer and tutor, teaching literature, history, and academic writing, and as a research associate for AustLit: The Australian Literature Research database.

Linda's PhD thesis examined constructions of hegemonic and other masculinities in recent science fiction texts. She is currently continuing her research into depictions of masculinities in science fiction and other popular genres including the James Bond series.

Linda has been employed at FedUni since January 2011 as a lecturer in literature and film. Her research informs her teaching which focuses on contemporary popular genres including fantasy, science fiction, horror, children's literature and young adult fiction, and issues of gender and sexuality.
