Dr Lisa Holmes has extensive experience in all aspects of teaching and learning in tertiary and workplace environments, delivering a diverse range of topics to a wide variety of audiences and disciplines.

Lisa’s recent research was conducted through the School of Medical and Health Sciences at Edith Cowan University entitled Exploring the preparedness of novice (student) paramedics for the mental health challenges of the paramedic profession: Using the wisdom of the Elders. This research involved conducting interviews and focus groups, with current and retired paramedics, across Australia and New Zealand. She has presented her research, recommendations and workshops at both national and international conferences as an invited presenter. She is a member of the leadership team for the highly valued and successful annual Survive & Thrive Symposiums.

Lisa is also an Accredited Mental Health First Aid Instructor.

Professional Associations

Dr Lisa Holmes is Chair of the Paramedic Australasia Paramedic Mental Health & Wellbeing Special Interest Group. She is a member of the Mental Health First Aid Advisory Group and Network of the Australasian Paramedic Academics.
