Lisanne Baak (MD) is a physician-researcher and PhD student in the field of neonatal neurology at the Wilhelmina Children's Hospital (part of the University Medical Center Utrecht). Her research is focused on the (long-term) consequences of perinatal stroke, a condition caused by an occlusion of one of the major arteries to the brain. She aims to obtain more knowledge about the development of the brain after a perinatal stroke by analyzing MRI scans, as well as elucidate the long-term functioning of children that suffered a perinatal stroke. Furthermore, she coordinates two clinical trials that aim to develop new therapeutic strategies for children suffering from perinatal stroke (PASSIoN study [https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT03356821] and DINOSAUR study [https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT03171818]).
