Livia O. Loureiro

Research Fellow, The Cente for Applied Genomics — Sickkids Hospital, University of Toronto

Dr. Loureiro is current a Research Fellow in The Centre for Applied Genomics in The Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto. After completing her undergraduate and master degree on evolution of bats in Brazil, she joined the Mastozoology laboratory in the Royal Museum and the University of Toronto, where she completed her PhD on genetics, behavioral, and morphological adaptive evolution of bats. She has traveled to seven countries conducting fieldwork on mammals and published 19 papers and book chapters on bats (some in peer-review). Now she has joined an award-winning human genetics team in the Sickkids Hospital, and is marring evolutionary biology and human genetics to obtain a new window into phenotype diversity and human evolutionary history.
