Research Fellow at AHSRI, University of Wollongong

Dr. Louisa Smith currently works as a Research Fellow in dementia and community inclusion at the Australian Health Services Research Institute (AHSRI), University of Wollongong. Louisa leads the 'Care' stream of a UOW, Global Challenge, Keystone project, which investigates social health and connections for people with dementia.

Prior to coming to AHSRI in 2018, Louisa worked at UNSW, Sydney as lecturer and Teaching and Education Lead at the Intellectual Disability Behaviour Support Program. Here Louisa's research focused on intellectual disability, complex support needs and social and policy change, particularly in the context of the NDIS. Louisa is a chief investigator on an ARC Linkage, Lost in Transition, which focuses on young people with complex support needs and improving their experiences of transition. Louisa has won national and university awards for her work leading the development of two Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) on Disability and a Good Life.
