I obtained my PHD is Sociology of Development at the University of Pisa (Italy), where I served as a Professor in Sociology for four years (2002-2006). After that, I was selected as a Visiting Professor at the University of Eduardo Mondlane (Mozambique), from 2007 to 2011. In this period I acquired Mozambican nationality. In 2011 I obtained a Marie-Curie fellowship by European Union and FCT of Portugal, and spent four years at the Centre for International Studies at ISCTE, in Lisbon, where I am currently an Associate Researcher. At the moment I am serving as an Associate Visiting Professor at the Federal University of Pernambuco, as well as a Professor at the Phd Course in Peace, Democracy, Social Movements and Human Development at the Technical University of Mozambique.
I am an expert in African politics, with a particular emphasis for Lusophone African countries.
