I sit on the international editorial boards of the Journal of Transport Policy and the Journal of Air Transport Management. I have worked with colleagues at Eurocontrol, the Commission for Integrated Transport, and the OMEGA (Opportunities for Mitigating the Environmental Effects of Growth in Aviation) academic research consortium on aviation research projects. I am currently co-editing two books on the subject of flight. I am an external examiner of the transport and logistics degree programmes at Huddersfield University.
My research interests are airport operations; the geographies of airspace; air transport policy; air travel and globalization; airport expansion, aviation and the environment; airline marketing; the historical development of air transport.
I teach on both the BSc in Air Transport Management and the BSc in Transport and Business Management undergraduate degree programmes.I supervise final year aviation projects and act as the Part A tutor and DIS (industrial placement) tutor for the ATM and TBM degrees. I am currently supervising four PhD students who are working in the areas of avaition biofuels, aircraft noise and community engagement, runway end safety areas, and airport capacity in London and the South East. I am always happy to discuss potential PhD topics with prospective students.
