Maggie Walter (PhD) is a palawa woman and Professor of Sociology and Pro Vice-Chancellor (Aboriginal Research and Leadership) at the University of Tasmania. She has an extensive research track record across the fields of race relations, inequality and research methods/methodologies. Her books include Indigenous Statistics: A Quantitative Research Methodology (2013 Routledge: co-authored with C. Andersen) Social Research Methods (2013, 3rd edition, OUP) and Indigenous Children Growing Up Strong: A Longitudinal Study of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Families (2017, co-edited with K.L. Martin and G. Bodkin-Andrews, Palgrave McMillan).
