Marc is a Senior Lecturer of Information Systems (Digital Ethics) at the School of Computing and Information Systems, University of Melbourne, Australia and Honorary Senior Fellow (at both Melbourne Law School and The Burnet Institute, Australia). His research interests are in the intersection between philosophy and technology: in particular, the ethics of social media technologies and the application of existentialist philosophy to contemporary social network structures. He is also an Honorary Burnet Institute Senior Fellow, working in social media and public health research. He was one of the early pioneers on Twitter research, with his PhD dissertation (ca. 2013) on Twitter and social behaviour. He frequently comments on topics related to digital ethics in the media, such as the NYT and The Age (Australia).
