Marcus Haynes

(He / Him)
Computational Geoscientist, Geoscience Australia

Dr Marcus Haynes is an early career researcher, having completed a PhD in geophysics at the Australian National University in 2021. In over a decade with Geoscience Australia, Marcus' career has focused on a multidisciplinary understanding of Australian resource prospectivity. His research interests include geophysical inference and prediction within a Bayesian statistical framework; imaging of the structure and composition of the lithospheric mantle; the geological and economic potential for Australian mineral and energy systems; lithospheric controls on the formation of ore deposits; and critical minerals. Most recently, Marcus has been the project manager for Economic Fairways; a collaborative project between Geoscience Australia and Monash University (under Geoscience Australia's "Exploring for the Future" program) to examine the intersection between the geosciences and resource development economics.
