Margot Gage Witvliet

Assistant Professor of Social Epidemiology, Lamar University

I'm a social epidemiologist and assistant professor at Lamar University, with a PhD from the University of Amsterdam/Academic Medical Center. As a veteran advocate, I am working with Young American Overseas to advance awareness of women in uniform. I completed my post-doctorate at Norwegian University of Science and Technology. Reuters News quoted me for my co-authored research on lone motherhood and for my research on the environment. My co-authored publication on corruption and health is cited by the United Nations. I am working to improve the role of girl characters in children's books and have created a coloring book with my daughters (@AlicornSisters) for mighty girls, entitled Alicorn, Unicorn and Horse World.
