Maria Strack is a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Ecosystems and Climate in the Department of Geography and Environmental Management at University of Waterloo. Her research investigates carbon stores in peatland ecosystems with particular interest in how disturbance affects these carbon stores and soil greenhouse gas exchange with the atmosphere. She is currently studying the impacts of resource extraction on peatland ecosystems and working to develop methods for peatland restoration.
